Di Gilpin is a designer, maker and wool lover. Di work from her own knitting studio in Fife, which is in a beautiful steading on Comielaw Farm.

The yarn that is used is Di Gilpin Lalland Lambswool, which is made in Scotland and finished(balled) in Yorkshire. This type of yarn is very light weight and it has the ability to give great stitch definition. It knits beautifully in Fair Isle, Gansey, Lace, Cable and has a great texture. It can also be knitted 2 strands together to make an aran weight wool.

When Di is not in the studio she enjoys travelling around the Scottish countryside, taking in the textures and colours that inform her work and researching the history and folklore that goes into each piece. The team that Di has is very important – who include Sheila Greenwell who helps develop patterns and looks after our knitting group.

Also a new yarn has been developed called Saorse, 80% fleece from our neighbour, Claddach Farm and 20% cashmere. It is a light golden colour with a fabulous handle.

Best wishes and happy knitting to you all.
