This Scottish knitting tour will help you experience craft in Scotland with an emphasis on knitting. In your free time on your arrival day you can choose to explore some of the local sights in Edinburgh, which include the iconic Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and her Majesty’s famous yacht, the HMY Britannia. Visit Stirling Castle where you will be treated to a special exhibition of ‘Waulking with wool’ before heading north to Inverness, the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. While here you will be able to enjoy the delights of the Loch Ness Knitting Festival in your free time. Next, it’s onto the scenic Outer Hebridean islands of Lewis and Harris where you will visit craft-based sites before journeying back to the mainland via the scenic Isle of Skye for a Dorset Button Workshop. On this tour we will visit two woollen mills; Carloway and the Highland Tartan Rebels at Prickly Thistle! There will also be other site visits dotted throughout including Culloden Battlefield, the Highland Folk Museum and a Highland Distillery.
On this tour meet with the ERIBÉ Knitwear team at their studio in Melrose for a workshop and to explore the studio. Also, on this tour you will meet Bev at The Handspinner Having Fun on the Isle of Skye for your Dorset Button Workshop as well as a visit Shilasdair Yarns and a visit to the Dovecot Studio Chanel to Westwood Knitting Exhibition.
