This tour offers the chance to learn from celebrated local instructors, mastering techniques such as Fair Isle, the Shetland Knitting Belt, and Shetland Lace. Starting in Edinburgh, you’ll visit Dovecot Studio, explore the Scottish Textiles Showcase, and get to know fellow travelers over a welcome dinner before heading to Aberdeen and then embarking on an overnight ferry to Lerwick, Shetland.

Over five days in Shetland, immerse yourself in breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. Enjoy half-day workshops, visit iconic yarn shops like Jamieson and Smith Wool Brokers, and meet the sheep on a farm visit. Discover the Shetland Museum and Archives, the Shetland Textile Museum, and watch jewelry-making experts at Shetland Jewellery. You’ll explore historic sites like Jarlshof, join local knitting circles, and soak in the island’s stunning scenery.

After these unforgettable days, the journey continues with a ferry back to Aberdeen and stops at Scone Palace and Askival of Strathearn Kilt Makers before returning to Edinburgh. A day trip to the New Lanark Mill, a visit to the Ginger Twist Studio & Yarn Shop, and a Scotch Whisky Experience round off this celebration of knitting, culture, and the natural beauty of Scotland.
