Once that’s done you’ll be able to experience the KnittingTours website perfectly.

Verdant Works is a world class visitor attraction based in Dundee and it tells the story of Dundee’s industrial textile heritage in the beautiful refurbished Mill building. The museum gives tales of the mill workers and how they worked and live in an industry that was situated in Dundee.

This museum will give the visitor the chance to step back in time and see and hear the machines at work and get a feeling of how important the textile and mill was to Dundee.

Textile and Dundee are inseparable with 50,000 people at its peak employed and supplied much of the world’s demand for jute goods

What will be seen at the museum at your own pace will be –

  • Soak up the atmosphere of the 19th century courtyard
  • Find out how jute was harvested in India and how it came to Dundee and learn about Dundee’s bustling docks
  • Experience how jute was produced from raw material to woven cloth
  • Appreciate the stunning mill architecture from the two viewing platforms in the High Mill
  • Visit the Victorian Half-Time School and also see how the workers spent their precious leisure time
  • Discover who ‘kettle bilers’ were and all about the reversal of traditional gender roles in Dundee – finding out about mill girls, Suffragettes and the unions
  • See a typical Dundee ‘plettie’, learn about tenement life and the health of the mill workers

Verdant Works is a fully Accredited Museum and has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally. Along with that it is also a 5 Star rated tourist attraction with Visit Scotland.
