Karie Westermann is an award-winning writer, teacher, and designer. She authored This Thing of Paper, inspired by her love of medieval manuscripts and libraries. Karie was born in Denmark but now lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
Her Scandinavian roots sparked her love for textiles as storytelling, while living in Scotland deepened her passion for colour. Karie teaches knitting and crochet classes all over Europe and the UK. As a result, she has developed relationships with big clients like Edinburgh Yarn Festival, Woollinn Dublin, Oslo Strikkefestival, and Copenhagen KnitWorks. She also designs for yarn companies and writes for several craft magazines.
Karie is a very talented author with works published such as ‘Knit with Attitude: 10 Years Anniversary’ and ‘The Official Outlander Knitting Book.’ She describes her day job as ‘doing things with wool and words!’ Karie is currently working on her second book and we can’t wait to read it!
